IGAD chooses Al-Neelain University to partner in an academic project among the universities of the region – Kosh News

Yesterday, the Director of Al-Neelain University, Professor Al-Hadi Adam Mohamed Ibrahim, the academic expert at the IGAD Foreign Service Institute, received Professor Masharya Monini, who is visiting Sudan these days. To agree on the development and design of graduate studies programs in the fields of political science that address various issues that fall within the concerns and roles that the Commission plays in the member states, such as issues of peace, security and diplomacy.

It is noteworthy that IGAD consists of eight countries: Djibouti, Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia and Eritrea. The meeting was attended by the director of Al-Neelain University, Professor Ali Al-Saouri, the former university director and professor of political science at the College of Economic Studies, the dean of the College of Political Sciences, Dr. Department of Foreign Relations, Dr. Tariq Al-Nour Huda. and Dr. Ahmed Refaat, Director of Program Development for the Diplomatic Institute at the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to SUNA, Professor Masharia expressed his happiness at visiting Sudan to achieve cooperation between IGAD universities by designing graduate programs in the fields of political science to discuss security, peace and diplomacy issues.

He said that it is part of IGAD’s goals in its endeavors to meet the challenges of the region, noting that the higher degrees that are agreed upon will not be awarded directly by the commission, but rather by universities, and that the commission can provide facilities. He pointed out that the launch of the program is planned to take place in September of next year, noting that the program is funded with the support of the European Union. In his speech, the Rector of the University, Professor Al-Hadi Adam, thanked the expert Masharya and IGAD and gave an introductory presentation about Al-Neelain University, its faculties and research centers, the number of its students, and what it provides to the community through three hospitals affiliated with the university.

He announced the approval of the university administration to participate and cooperate with the commission’s project after completing consultations with the relevant councils at the university and formulating a response that transcends various challenges to be adapted to fit the objectives of the proposed project.
