The collision of a commercial tanker caused the crash of one of the towers carrying electricity on the main line connecting Port Sudan to the national grid, and the Ministry of Energy and Oil confirmed that the Turkish barge in Port Sudan had left the national electricity grid as a result.

The Minister in charge also clarified that work to rehabilitate the damaged tower is proceeding rapidly, and he explained that the failure of the transmission line led to the exit of about 150 megawatts from the national grid, which directly affected the stability of the electrical supply in other regions of Sudan.
